The Doctors of Family Medicine Associates

Dr. Parler received his BS degree in Biochemistry from Clemson University and graduated with a medical degree from the Medical University of South Carolina in 1988. He completed his residency in Family Practice at the Medical College of Georgia in 1991, where he was chief of resident during his last year. He has been practicing in this office since 1991.

Dr. Parler has been named one of Augusta's "Best Doctors" in Family Practice. He lives with his wife and three children in North Augusta, SC. Dr. Parler enjoys seeing adults and children of all ages.

A graduate of the Medical College of Georgia, Dr. Smith also holds a Masters in Public Health from the University of North Carolina, a Masters of Science from the University of Georgia, and a BA from Carson-Newman College. He completed his residency in Family Medicine at the US Naval Hospital Charleston, South Carolina.

He is a Diplomat of the American Board of Family Practice, assistant clinical professor of Family Medicine at the Medical College of Georgia and is Chief of Staff at Trinity Hospital. Dr. Smith has been named on the "Best Doctors" list in Family Practice.

Dr. Smith is married and a native of Carrollton, Georgia. His special interests are in pediatrics, women's health and cardiovascular health.

Dr. Pickett has been practicing medicine in the Augusta area for 15 years. A native of South Carolina and a graduate of the Medical University of South Carolina in Charleston.

Dr. Pickett moved to Augusta and completed a residency in Family Medicine at the Medical College of Georgia. Married with two children.

Dr. Pickett enjoys family values. His patient care interests include pediatric care, adolescent care, women's and men's preventive medicine, geriatrics, diabetes and hypertension.

Professional organizations: Member of American Academy of Family Physicians, Member of Georgia Academy of Family Physicians., Member of National Medical Associations.

Dr. Conkright lives in Augusta with his wife and five children. Graduating from USC-Aiken with a BS in chemistry in 1990, Dr. Conkright attended the Medical College of Georgia for medical school and completed his residency in Family Medicine at the Medical College of Georgia in 1997.

He enjoys seeing patients of all ages and from all walks of life. Special interests include adolescent health, women's health, sports medicine, geriatrics and hospice.

Dr. Van Alstine received his degree in chemistry at USC-Aiken and Master's in mechanical engineering at the University of South Carolina. He graduated from the Medical College of Georgia and finished his residency at Riverside Family Practice in Virginia.

Dr. Van Alstine grew up in the Aiken-Augusta area and in 2001 he and his wife along with their children returned to Augusta to enjoy close proximity to family, church and friends.

He is currently chairman of the Family Practice Department and director of the Wound Healing Center at Trinity Hospital. Special interests include adolescents, sports, acute care, geriatrics, diabetes and cardiovascular health.
